Danger Hiptop 1/2 / T-Mobile Sidekick I/II ringtones

These devices split them into various categories: - Songs: musical ringtones - Beeps: simplistic alerts - Chimes: more complex alerts - Voices: voice alerts - Moods: covers of classical/jazz tracks, for MMS usage I think With the exception of the European T-Mobile sounds, these were all composed or at least arranged by in-house Danger sound designer Peter “pdx“ Drescher. He had already co-designed soundbanks for WebTV and Beatnik, and would later go on to create several ringtones for Android , as well as sounds for Windows. His style is often rather bluesy/jazzy, but often incorporates electronic elements. The majority of sounds here are in MIDI format, but make use of custom samples that were already preloaded into the devices’ soundbanks. The Hiptop 2 features a couple of low quality streamed ringtones. Overall, some pretty cool and interesting tunes here. The sound quality and instrument design is arguably comparable to Game Boy Advance games.
