For Eldon Obrecht (1920-2011) Robert Paul Block was born in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1942, and grew up in Chicago. He studied at Roosvelt University (Chicago Musical College) majoring in composition and received his Bachelor end Master’s Degrees there. His formal composition teachers were Karel Jirak, Robert Muczinski and Robert Lombardo.
