C.G. Jung, Covid-19, Spring and Imagination: Prof. Verena Kast in Conversation with Stefano Carpani

Prof. Verena Kast and I discussed the current global Covid-19 crisis and the emotion arising from such emergency. We looked at denial, anxiety, aggressivity as well as solidarity. Prof. Kast suggested – while in full or partial lockdown – to be creative, to become creative and to use our imagination as an antidote to our negative emotions. This, without denying how we feel and our fears as well as uncertainties. She also underlined that this crisis is forcing us to deal anew with death. We agreed that – following Ulrich Beck (2017) – this crisis is a cosmopolitan matter implying a “cosmopolitan frame of reference”, calling for a transnational “declaration of interdependence” and that we are all responsible and we are all vulnerable.
