Elvis Presley - Moody Blue - From First Take To The Master (and beyond)

As the 1970’s wore on it became progressively more difficult to encourage Elvis to venture into a recording studio to fulfill his contractual obligations with RCA. After the session in 1971 and the mini session which took place immediately before filming for “Elvis On Tour began“ in March 1972, it took some considerable effort to even get Elvis into a studio located within his hometown, but the effort was rewarded with a couple of sessions at Memphis’ Stax Studios in 1973, although even this included Elvis adding his vocals to backing tracks at his Palm Springs residence. In spite of this however, the Stax sessions have been viewed in hindsight as an excellent endeavour. Elvis then never ventured near a recording studio throughout the following year, but did record at RCA’s Studio C in Hollywood in March of 1975, the result of which was the excellent “Today“ album.
