“Weit ist mein Vaterland!“, Ist eine ostdeutsche Aneignung des sowjetischen (UdSSR) patriotischen Liedes “Wide Is My Motherland“, “Широка страна моя родная“. Nach der Befreiung Deutschlands aus der Nazi-Herrschaft wurde Deutschland nach Ost und West, der deutschen Demokratischen Republik und der Bundesrepublik Deutschland aufgeteilt. Die DDR, die unter großem Einfluß aus der Sowjetunion war, nutzte zahlreiche sowjetische und russische Musikstücke vor allem “Lied vam Vaterland“, die auf dem patriotischen Lied der USSR basierte, “Wide Is My Motherland“ und “Let’s Go!“. “Das Lied vom Vaterland“, “Song of the Fatherland“, is an East German appropriation of the Soviet (USSR) patriotic song, “Wide Is My Motherland“, “Широка страна моя родная“. Following the liberation of Germany from Nazi rule, Germany was divided into east and west, the German Democratic Republic and the Federal Republic of Germany. The GDR, under great influence from the Soviet Union, appropriated numerous Soviet and Russian music pieces most notably, “Lied vam Vaterland“, based of the USSR patriotic song, “Wide Is My Motherland“ and “Let’s Go!“.
