To promote the video, beginning on Monday July 7, 2003, six Linkin Park “trading cards,“ one for each member of the band, were strewn across the Linkin Park website as well as radio station sites and select fan sites picked by Mike Shinoda. Each card allowed users to watch the music video for “Faint“ as well as view behind-the-scenes footage taken from the featured band member’s perspective. The videos were hosted on . Physical trading cards were also given to street team members to promote the contest. The music video was shot over 2 days at a secret location in downtown Los Angeles with about 1,000 fans from LP Underground.
