Xavier Dolan joins us for an in-depth discussion of his filmography.
Xavier Dolan is a French Canadian actor, writer and director, whose first three films - J’ai tué ma mère, Heartbeats and Laurence Anyways - have the distinction of all opening at the Cannes Film Festival.
Xavier was in Toronto for the 2013 Canadian Screen Awards, where his most recent film, Laurence Anyways, won two awards. He joined us at Oddseoul the day before the ceremony to candidly discuss the film in great depth, contextualizing it within his other work, and discussing his next two films - including Tom à la ferme, which was the first Quebec film to play the Venice International Film Festival in nearly 30 years. We also touch briefly on how he looks back at his first two features: I Killed My Mother (J’ai tué ma mère) and Heartbeats (Les amours imaginaires). His subsequent features include Mommy and It’s Only the End of the World (Juste la fin du monde)
