China and Russia conduct joint naval drills in Sea of Japan

Two destroyers, a submarine and two corvettes were some of the vessels Beijing sent to the four-day exercise that began on October 14. The annual joint drills aim to develop the comprehensive strategic military partnership between the two countries. China and Russia have been cultivating closer ties in recent years amid a souring of their respective relations with the West.
