SLOW DOWN LINDA (LIVE) - ERIC CLAPTON W. CHAS & DAVE

In 1982 ’Chas & Dave’ and their self-coined ’rockney’ style (lyrics with a cockney accent set to a musical mix of pub singalong, music-hall humour, boogie-woogie and rock ’n’ roll) were at the pinnacle of their popularity. So ’London Weekend Television’ felt it suited to offer them “Chas & Dave’s Christmas Knees-Up“, a Christmas show in an according setting of a pub with the action in the midst of the crowd. Upon its success this was followed by six episodes of “Chas & Dave’s Knees-Up“ in 1983. Musical guests on the Christmas show were singer Lonnie Peters, old pal Albert Lee and Eric Clapton. Here’s the first of two songs featuring Clapton on vocals and guitar and his band member at the time, Albert Lee. Although “Slow Down Linda“ had already been recorded for “Money And Cigarettes“, this was a TV premiere as the LP would not be released before February 1983. Enjoy!
