American Bandstand 1970 - Baby Hold On, The Grass Roots

Airdate: May 16, 1970 It’s the start of a new decade. Fashion, music, and social norms are changing at an alarming rate - especially to the older generation, the President will soon face impeachment, the nation is sharply divided politically, and our soldiers have been fighting for years overseas in a war that appears to have no end in sight. “Baby Hold On” was not a big hit for The Grass Roots, but it looks like it would be fun to dance to as its got a good beat and well…you know. The song just entered the Billboard charts last week and will peak at #35 in 6 weeks. We see some of the 60’s staples still dancing today including Frank Vanderpuil (on the tall riser at 0:42), Don Sanuskar & Pat Dickinson (2:14), and Famous Hooks & Theodosia Dayton (1:18). Also dancing today are fairly new “regulars” Andy Soto & Charlotte Regalado (2:28)
