The Australian’s Greg Sheridan says “China is breaking all the international norms“ and the G7 summit is being transformed into a declaratory summit for liberal democracies to push back against it. Mr Sheridan said the G7 used to be about economic policy coordination but it’s “now more about broader political and international issues that are an association of liberal democracies and economies“. “COVID has had one good consequence; it has massively slimmed down the international summit season, so leaders choose very carefully what summits they are going to,“ he said.
