Electric Guitar Build - Body Carving #GGBO2022

Demonstrating how I carve the body like a PRS SE using a Shinto saw rasp and Iwasaki files. Starting with the Shinto to remove material quickly & Working all around the body, I’ve marked a line following the body outline which as it’s carved becomes a chamfer / bevel. When it’s mostly there I switch to Iwasaki files to finalise the shape and smooth the surface. Upper access carve is done with the Iwasaki files which give the shape without any special technique, just by the tool profile. The comfort carve on the back is taken in the same way as the top, Shinto then files. Overall, doing this by hand takes several hours but is very satisfying and it was far too hot today to be wearing PPE. The shape and carve will be finalised during sanding after the neck is glued in and the heel is blended into the body. Main tools used are: Shinto Saw Rasp Iwasaki Files
