Our Universe Is Not Silent~
Although space is a vacuum, that does not mean there is no sound in it.
Sound does exist in space.. in the form of electromagnetic vibrations.
Nearly all types of astronomical objects give off some radio radiation.
The strongest sources of such emissions are the pulsars, nebulas, quasars, galaxies..
These radio waves can be captured by the specially designed instrument known as ’astronomical interferometer’. This device can convert the radio waves into the frequency within the range of human hearing (20 - 20,000 Hz).
Voyager and Hawk-Eye are among many probes which record space sounds.
Can we hear sounds on other planets/moons with any type of atmosphere? Yes, we can. Since any kind of matter can transmit sound waves, we can hear sound on Mars, Titan, Venus or any place with an atmosphere.
Interesting Facts about Earth:
Earth is the third planet from the Sun.
Earth is about billion years old.
There is only one natural satellite of the planet Earth - the Moon.
Earth is the only planet not named after a god.
The Earth is the densest planet in the Solar System.
-70% of the Earth’s surface is covered in water.
Earth is mostly iron, oxygen and silicon.
The Earth is not actually round in shape; in fact it is geoid. This simply means that the rounded shape has a slight bulge towards the equator.
Only 3% water of the earth is fresh, the rest 97% - salted. Of the 3%, over 2% is frozen in ice sheets and glaciers, which means that less than 1% of fresh water is found in lakes, rivers and underground.
The coldest place on Earth is in Antarctica.
The Earth is the only place in our Solar System where a Solar Eclipse can happen.
The rotation of the Earth is gradually slowing down. However it is slowing down so minimally (approximately 17 milliseconds per hundred years) that it will be about 140 million years before the Earth experiences 25 hour days.
The planet Earth weighs approximately 5,974,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 kilograms (nearly 6 septillion kg.)
Earth is the only planet in our solar system to have water in all three of its forms - Liquid, Solis and Gas.
One third of the Earth’s surface is either partially or totally desert.
The Queen of the U.K. is the legal owner of one sixth of the Earth’s land surface.
The Earth is struck by lightning 100 times per second – that’s 8.6 million times per day.
