Bass Teacher REACTS | Steve Di Giorgio “Overactive Imagination“ by DEATH - Absolute Bass MASTERY!
Despite my rock and metal roots, I have never listened to DEATH! That changes today as I check out a bass play-through of “Overactive Imagination” from Steve DiGiorgio, courtesy of @darkglasselectronics! This track is from their landmark 1993 album “Individual Thought Patterns”, and I really need to go back and explore their full catalogue now. This was a real treat to watch considering my main exposure to Steve’s work has been through Testament over the years. In this video I analyze all of Steve’s techniques including his fast chord strumming, his incorporation of fast double-stops within a riff, his VERY odd thumb-muting technique (I’ve NEVER seen this before), tips on achieving fluid 3-finger technique, his subtle incorporation of “traditional” fretless playing during certain riffs, and much more. I forgot how INSANE of a player Steve was - thank you all for this request!
