Track 5 of side one from the first album by The Doors, the penultimate rocker preceding their monster hit “Light My Fire.“ An album that in all respects is total perfection from beginning to end. No question that this was a major party tune and one well worth drinking to and singing along with.
A radical departure from most Doors songs, “Alabama Song“ was written by Bertolt Brecht and Kurt Weill. It appeared in Weill’s 1927 opera “Little Mahagonny“ and was sung by his wife, Lotte Lenya, who became famous the following year in The Three-Penny Opera (1928).
The song is an experience and hopefully this video will be as well!
