Ukraine: Folk Music and Dancing in Kyiv on New Years 2005

here is a bit of footage of people dancing to folk music from the new year’s eve/day celebrations in kyiv in 2005. the first minute actually is footage of people dancing not to folk music but to some folk-pop, and their dancing isn’t traditional. however, the last few minutes provide some fabulous footage of mostly middle- to senior-aged people singing along with and/or doing real folk dancing to musicians playing on the street. where are all the young people? do they no longer want to remember
