X-Flare and Earth-Directed CME - November 28. 2023.

A noteworthy solar flare reaching very close to the X1.0 threshold was just detected around AR 3500 at 19:50 UTC (Nov 28). The source was AR 3500, now in a good position for Earth directed eruptions. NASA’s Solar Dynamics Observatory recorded the blast. This explosion almost certainly hurled a CME toward Earth. In fact, a wave of plasma already appears to be leaving the blast site when viewing updated imagery. Confirmation awaits fresh data from SOHO coronagraphs. A pulse of extreme UV radiation blacked out shortwave radio communications across the South Pacific Ocean and parts of the Americas: map. Mariners and ham radio operators may have noticed loss of signal at frequencies below 20 MHz.
