Seaside Birthday (1954)

No titles. Brighton, East Sussex. Several shots of the snow-covered beach, pier and boats at Brighton. One boat is called ’Gracie Fields’. A crowd of fully-clothed people watch mad members of the Brighton Swimming Club running out of a building and into the sea in their swimming trunks and costumes. It looks freezing. The occasion is member Ernest Trory’s birthday. Coming out of the water, Ernie writes the temperature of the sea today on a blackboard - 39 degrees F. Then the members walk through snow on the beach to gather around a table and eat birthday cake. Note: news cutting and small book on Brighton on file. FILM ID: A VIDEO FROM BRITISH PATHÉ.
