Beijing: China to ensure safety of Chinese citizens planning to leave Palestine, Israel
China will do its utmost to protect the safety of Chinese nationals who plan to leave Israel and Palestine as the conflict between the two sides has entered its fourth day, according to Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesman Wang Wenbin at a press briefing in Beijing on Tuesday.
According to the health authorities of Israel and Palestine on Monday night, the hostilities had killed over 1,600 people. The escalation of the situation is posing high risks for civilians.
“The Foreign Ministry and our overseas diplomatic missions have issued emergency safety warnings in view of the current situation in Israel and Palestine, advising Chinese nationals against traveling to Israel and Palestine for the time being. We remind those who are already there to stay on high alert, step up safety precautions, make emergency preparations and get ready to shelter in place. In case of any emergency, please turn to our embassy in Israel and the Chinese office to Palestine for help in a timely manner. We will provide full assistance to Chinese nationals who would like to leave with their safety being ensured,” Wang said.
“In light of the fast-changing security situation on the ground, we are constantly verifying and learning about the relevant information (about Chinese nationals). The Foreign Ministry has instructed relevant diplomatic missions to search and rescue the missing persons with all-out efforts, treat the injured and urge the foreign parties to ensure the safety of Chinese nationals and institutions with effective measures. As far as we know, the injured Chinese nationals are receiving treatment in hospital and are generally in stable conditions,“ he said.
