Duo Antoine Läng/Shane Perlowin

Live at Osteria La Fabbrica, Super 8 feeling SHANE PERLOWIN: Shane Perlowin is a fiercely eclectic guitarist from Asheville, North Carolina. Despite a wide variety of projects, he is best known for Ahleuchatistas, his avant-noise-rock band that has released six albums on various labels including his own, Open Letter Records, Tzadik and Cuneiform Records. In 2010, Perlowin self-produced his first solo album “The Vacancy in Every Verse, involving loops of ambient textures, fiery noise, solo acoustic guitar and a trio of guitar / bass / drums. His approach to the guitar solo combines two facets: the first, acoustic, is rooted in the American “finger-style“ tradition, from John Fahey to Mississippi John Hurt, combined with the uniqueness of his game and his influences ranging from classical guitar music to Chinese traditional music through African music and jazz avant-garde. The second, electric, is an aggregate of ethereal soundscapes, polyrhythms, sound collage and epic melody. ANTOINE LANG: Antoine Läng’s (vocals electronics) taste for hybridization and experimentation leads him to use electronic devices as a means of voice processing to extend its field. Initiated in rock, metal or jazz bands, this process is ongoing and increasingly directed toward experimental and improvised music, in regular projects (dQtç, VLL678, Atomic Paracelze) as well as occasional meetings. Fascinated by the plasticity of voice, his approach to the instrument extends to several registers - spoken, sung, noisy - and includes some unique vocal techniques combining lyrical sophistication and brute animality.
