Gangs Treated Like “Celebrities” | Government To Give Police More Powers To Combat Knife Crimes

Rishi Sunak has said a crackdown on ‘zombie-style’ knives, with new powers for police, would make a “big difference” for officers. The Government has announced that more knives and machetes with no practical use will be banned, and police will be given more powers to seize and destroy them after multiple stabbings hit Notting Hill Carnival over the weekend. Former police officer Chris Hobbs says: “In a crowd like that, stopping a knife crime is very difficult.” Chris worries about the “influence of gangs” in these city areas. He tells TalkTV’s Ian Collins that these gang members are treated like “celebrities”. Ian says: “It is disappointing to see this level of knife crime taking place over a single weekend!” #talktv #talkradio #nottinghillcarnival #knifecrime
