100 dead ‘after Israeli forces fire on Gaza crowd chasing aid trucks’

Israel’s military denied the claim, saying that dozens of deaths happened during a stampede at about 4am when thousands of people had surrounded the lorries and were trampled in a rush to loot supplies. They said that some of those killed were run over by the aid vehicles. An IDF official said that a separate, “limited” incident had happened hundreds of yards north of the stampede near the north-south checkpoint crossing, where people “posing a threat” had approached Israeli troops only after the lorries had passed on the coastal road.
