Arifa plays ‘Danubian Horses’ a composition by Franz von Chossy in MuziekHaven in Zaandam. Zhivko Vasilev - kaval, Bence Huszar - cello, Franz von Chossy - piano, Sjahin During - percussion Arifa was founded by Sjahin During in 2010. The group has released five albums to date and has performed in two dozen countries on five continents. The 2020 EP ’Danubian Voyage’ is the last released production. In De Muziekhaven in Zaandam Arifa plays two songs from this recording. Ancient music traditions from the Middle East and the Balkans are mixed with jazz and contemporary improvised music. Arifa consists of four members from different countries. Cellist Bence Huszar (Hungary), Zhivko Vasilev (Bulgaria) on the naval, Franz von Chossy (Germany) on piano and Sjahin During (Turkey/Netherlands) on percussion. Danubian Voyage is an exciting journey on the Danube River that flows from Germany through Central and Southeastern Europe and after 2829 km empties into the Black Sea border area.
