Dylan Butler identified as Iowa shooting suspect | 1 dead and 5 injured before taking his own life

THE shooter suspected of opening fire inside a high school campus, killing one and injuring five others before taking his own life, has been identified. Dylan Butler, 17, was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound after police say he opened fire inside Perry High School in Perry, Iowa, about 38 miles northwest of Des Moines, at around 7:40 am on Thursday. Investigators revealed Butler was armed with two firearms, including a pump action shotgun and a small handgun when his rampage began. During a Thursday afternoon media briefing, officials revealed responding officers uncovered an explosive device, described as rudimentary, at the scene, but it was deemed safe. Mitch Mortvedt, the assistant director of the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, acknowledged that a video of Butler is circulating on social media. Iowa police believe Butler acted alone.
