Steel going vertical & Robots arrive! 4 January 2023 Giga Texas Construction Update (07:55AM)

Gigafactory Texas on 4 January 2023! This is where Model Y’s are built and soon Cyber Truck production will start! The site returns to full speed, both with production and construction all over! With production, we see Model Y’s departing the end of the building, being driven to the east staging lots and transport trucks picking them up at a similar rate as what we saw at the end of the previous quarter! With construction, we see huge progress on the west battery cathode foundation, including the first steel assembly going vertical and footing construction extended further to the south. We see a large, graded area on the southwest of the main highway nearing completion and will soon be ready for the next phase of construction on this site. On the south end, we see the return of the temporary loading platform to the 3rd floor of the General Assembly section, while more work on the new foundation area is well underway, with more underground pipes being installed on the east side, removal of the older pipes in the middle of the site, and final concrete slab sections removal. I remind viewers that despite the noise and discussion out there about what these numbers “mean”, do not lose sight of the amazing performance of all the construction workers, contractors, and Tesla employees at this factory, and all the other Giga Factories around the world in a challenging environment to make possible these achievements. Perspective is important! I also discuss the upcoming 1 March 2023 Investors Day here at Giga Texas, which will be open to some institutional and retail investors. I also review the five main topic areas on the agenda, to include tours of the most advanced production line, the long-term expansion plans, the generation 3 platform, capital allocation, and direct interaction with key Tesla leadership. We look at the return of the south temporary platform, and the implications of this, particularly in relation to my 3 January 2023 deep-dive video (if you haven’t seen this, I recommend you do so to fully understand the activities on the south end). Another exciting new development is the start of vertical steel assembly and installation on the west battery cathode plant foundation, while the footing construction expands to the south. Finally, I highlight the progress across the highway with the preparation for construction of the new West Support Facility. Here are the highlights from today’s video: On the east side of the Body-in-White section, we see several more robotics assembly machines arriving and being moved inside. These may be some of the 66 Kuka robots mentioned in a recent Drive Tesla Canada news article, and if true, are part of the new Cybertruck production and assembly lines! On the west side of General Assembly, a bit north of the west main entrance, we see the new concrete apron is now about halfway poured in the area where I expect to see expanded receiving docks. The temporary concrete wall panels are still in place, but once the concrete apron is completed, I would expect to see the work on the receiving doors commence. Finally, for those worried about or interested in how production of Model Y’s is going now that we are past the holiday season, I can report that production appears to be at or very near full speed & I noted transport trucks were on site and very busy too! In addition to the transport trucks you will see in the video, I noted about a half dozen more in queue just off site, waiting for their arrival time slots!
