See the first trailer for director Lasse Hallström’s film about the artistic genius and pioneer Hilma af Klint, starring Tora Hallström and Lena Olin. The film is about Hilma af Klint (1862-1944), a pioneer of abstract art who has only been recognized and celebrated as a true visionary after her death. She was born in Stockholm and developed an abstract visual language as early as 1906 – long before the male artists who have long been regarded as forerunners of abstract art in the 20th century. An equally important part in the depiction of her life is Hilma’s spiritual side. She formed the group “The Five“ played in the film by Lily Cole, Catherine Chalk, Rebecca Calder and Maeve Dermody. The cast also includes Tom Wlaschiha, Jazzy de Lisser, Anna Björk, Adam Lundgren, Martin Wallström, Emmi Tjernström and Jens Hultén. Hilma is an epic film about the redemptive power of art, friendship, love and self-liberation. Hilma will be released in UK cinemas on 28th October. Early 2023, Hilma will also be available on Viaplay UK, Viaplay’s streaming service set to launch in the UK this autumn
