Thousands gather in Moscow for Navalny’s funeral, defying Kremlin and Russian police

Alexei Navalny, Russia’s opposition leader, was buried Friday on the outskirts of Moscow, two weeks after his suspicious death in a Siberian prison camp. He was mourned by thousands in the streets amid threats by the Kremlin and a massive police presence. Navalny showed in death he could still conjure resistance to Putin’s authoritarian rule.
