Israeli police raids Al Jazeera office after shutdown order, seizes equipment
Israeli police raided Al Jazeera’s office in occupied East Jerusalem after Netanyahu’s government decided to shut down the network’s local operations in Israel. Video on social media showed officers removing camera equipment. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced the closure of Al Jazeera’s office, effective immediately, following a discussion by the Security Cabinet.
Al Jazeera condemned the move and says it’ll pursue all available legal channels in response.
Al Jazeera’s Hamda Salhut reports.
And to discuss more of this we are joined from Tel Aviv by Haggai Matar, who is the Executive Director of 972 Magazine, which provides Independent commentary and news from Israel & Palestine.
