The song was written by Abai Qunanbaiuly, a prolific poet, composer, and philosopher from Kazakhstan. This year marks what would be his 175th birthday, and we wanted to dedicate this to all our friends who welcomed us with open arms while on our tour in Kazakhstan in 2018. We had the good fortune of going to Kazakhstan in 2018 on an American Music Abroad tour and played in a beautiful town called Semey where Abai, the national poet of Kazakhstan, is originally from. We had an amazing time and truly enjoyed the people, the culture, and the food.
