Belarus Athlete Granted Polish Visa After Refusing To Take ‘Forced Flight’ Home From Tokyo Olympics
Belarusian sprinter Krystsina Tsimanouskaya becomes the latest Olympic athlete to refuse to return to her country. Tsimanouskaya claimed she was taken to the airport against her will after she criticised her coaches. She sought the protection of Japanese police and landed up at the Polish embassy in the Japanese capital. Poland has granted humanitarian visa to 24-year-old Krystsina Tsimanouskaya.
Tsimanouskaya took to social media and alleged that she was being forced to compete in the 4x400m relay race without being given prior notice. Tsimanouskaya had come to Tokyo to compete in the women’s 200m event on August 2. She alleges that Belarus Olympic Committee (BOC) forced her to quit the games and return.
