Israeli PM Netanyahu says sent delegation to Cairo for truce talks
“I instructed the delegation to leave for Cairo yesterday to continue the negotiations,“ Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in a video statement. Netanyahu’s comments come as the killing of Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran, who was Hamas’s lead negotiator, has raised questions about the continued viability of efforts by Qatari, Egyptian, and US mediators to broker a truce and exchange of hostages and prisoners.
