Bringing An Abandoned Gold Mine Back To Life: Part 16 of ?

Lots of things moving at once in the mine now… All of the rehab work and the drilling/blasting/mucking cycle we were on over the past year was to get the core drill in to a station and to get it pulling out cores. With that going on in the background (and that is two full crews running 24 hours a day, 7 days a week the outside guy), we also have our full crews starting to run another new drift off from the 1600 to set up a second core drilling station. The locations for the core drilling stations are determined by the mine engineer and the geologist and are based upon where they calculate that the core drill can deliver the best profile of the ore bodies they are predicting with its fan pattern of drilling. Do you recall those caved drifts running off to the left as one is making their way back to the 1600 station? No one knows how extensive those workings are. The maps we are working with simply indicate the entrance to the drift and mark it as caved. In other words, they were already caved w
