Laura Branigan ~ Imagination 1983 Extended Meow Mix

Released on April 15, 1983 the soundtrack to Flashdance sold more than 20 million copies becoming one of the best selling LP’s of all time but the best selling of 1983. Irene Cara’s version of “Flashdance... What A Feeling“ spent six weeks at #1 on the Hot100 and the follow up Michael Sembello’s “Maniac“ spent two weeks at the top. A third single from the soundtrack was scheduled, Donna Summer’s “Romeo“ from her still born 1981 LP “I’m a Rainbow“ but at the time she was ready to release “She Works Hard For The Money“ so “Romeo“ never saw a commercial release. Laura Branigan figured heavily in the movie with her hit “Gloria“ being used to convey excitement for the skating sequence and when Alex’s friend fell on the ice, it underlined her failure. “Gloria“ was not included on the soundtrack, but her song “Imagination“ did.
