Humankind is a 4X strategy game where you build an empire, beginning with a neolithic tribe and travelling through to the modern era. In a genre long dominated by the likes of Sid Meier’s Civilization series, developer Amplitude Studios is looking to switch up the formula. Here’s how Humankind differs from other strategy games. One of the main differences between Humankind and Civilization, is the option to pick a new culture when entering a new era. Each culture is associated with one of seven affinities: Aesthete, Militarist, Expansionist, Builder, Agrarian, Merchant and Scientist. Affinities dictate cultures’ general play style. Each culture also comes with a legacy trait which rewards you for picking that culture and stays with you after you’ve moved on to another culture.
