Building the Panama Canal - ABC World News Tonight - August 20, 1999

Peter Jennings reports at the end of the 20th Century on the most amazing accomplishment which kicked it off. Historian David McCullough is interviewed and we see some great footage of the Canal’s construction and of Theodore Roosevelt visiting the site in 1906. Jimmy Carter’s treaty to return control of the Canal to Panama in 2000 is also reviewed.
