Bagpipes in Jazz? - Gunhild Carling 2007 If you think you have heard it all, then there is more. Master trumpeter/trombonist Gunhild Carling from Sweden, not naturally the land of bagpipes, is featured during a concert by playing Amazing Grace on the bagpipes. I don’t know much about the bagpipe playing techniques, I heard a Scottish jazz band once featuring the pipes as well, but what I notice in this clip is that Gunhild not only displays a fantastic fingertechnique, but she actually plays in a jazzy manner, flattening notes to get the desired jazz effect. Quite amazing and also done with a great sense of humour.
