Halle Bailey and Fantasia Barrino Shine in The Color Purple Musical Film Trailer

The long-awaited musical film adaptation of The Color Purple is finally here. Warner Bros. Pictures has released the first official trailer for the movie, which will hit theaters on December 25, 2023. The Color Purple is based on the 1982 Pulitzer Prize-winning novel by Alice Walker and its 1985 film adaptation by Steven Spielberg. It tells the story of Celie, an African American woman who faces oppression and abuse in the American South from the early to mid-20th century. The musical version features a book by Marsha Norman and music and lyrics by Brenda Russell, Allee Willis, and Stephen Bray. The trailer showcases the stunning performances of Halle Bailey and Fantasia Barrino, who play the younger and older versions of Celie, respectively.
