At Sea: Iran and Russia begin joint naval drill in Indian Ocean

The Iranian and Russian naval forces kicked off a joint naval drill in the northern part of the Indian Ocean, Tuesday.
Ships, including a Russian Navy ship 545 and an Iranian Hengam-class landing 514 ship were seen maneuvering in the area.
According to reports, the drill is being held in the area of 17,000 square kilometres (10,600 square miles) and is dubbed ’Iran-Russia Maritime Security Belt 2021.’
In late December 2019, Iran, Russia and China held joint naval drills in the Indian Ocean and the Gulf of Oman which lasted four days.
