“Broken Record” was born out of reflecting on feelings of confusion, betrayal, and lack of closure. In the past couple years of regaining strength as a duo, many of our writing sessions were spent replaying old memories, trying to make sense of the change in someone we once thought we were close with. It’s as if the studio transformed into a therapist’s office where Yasmine and I would purge our pent up story into lyrics, because we couldn’t share the truth with the world. Somedays we were at peace with the past, somedays we were apathetic and over it, somedays I was PMSing and bitter about the fuck boy shit that went down. But on 10/21/15 we wanted to write about the conflicted state of lingering in past, yet wanting to move on. Oliver Lord and DISKORD helped us create a musical world of clashing emotions. Even after lots of hard work and hundreds of plays, Broken Record still gives me chills to this day. The song came straight from the bottom of our hearts. Cuz we’re emo fucks. #Emotronica
