The occupation would last years, and during this time thousands would perish as a result of the occupation by the military regime, estimates ranging from 100,000 to 300,000. This number coming from a population of only 650,000. Hundreds of thousands were forcibly resettled with starvation used a tool to impose the Indonesian’s will. In todays video, we will cover the story of Timorese independence, the methods employed by Indonesian forces to impose its will and the aftermath for the region.
