Charted at #1 on UK Singles chart in 1954, and #10 in Billboard in the US. With this recording, David became the first UK male singer to attain a gold disc, the first UK male singer to chart in the top 10 of the US Billboard chart, and the first UK singer to sell over one million copies of a record in the US. This song became his signature tune. “Cara Mia“ became a hit again when revamped in a new version by Jay and the Americans in 1965 (charting at #4 Billboard Hot 100).
