Greek Fried Smelts (Atherina Tiganiti) | Gluten-Free & Dairy-Free Fried Fish

Hi everyone :) Thank you for waiting and coming to see my new video! Today’s recipe is ... Greek fried smelts cooked with corn flour (otherwise known as Atherina Tiganiti in Greek) This is a gluten-free and dairy-free version of one of my favorite street foods growing up as a child. They’re easy to eat like fries and taste amazing! The traditional variation for breading the fish calls for flour, but you can substitute with semolina flour, chickpea flour, etc. In this recipe I use naturally gluten-free, corn meal, which is a great source of dietary fiber, vitamin B6, and folate – and it gives the fried smelts and extra crunch You can substitute this recipe with other fish as well. This variation is made with smelts, which are small enough to be eaten with their bones. If your choice of fish is larger, then you’ll just need to adjust your cooking time and ingredient measurements. These are traditionally served with lemon, but you can substitute with a tomato-, mayo
