Al Cohn - Al Cohn’s America (1976).

“Al Cohn’s America“ is a jazz album by saxophonist Al Cohn, recorded in 1976 for Xanadu Records. Al Cohn’s series of albums for Xanadu were among the happiest and most exciting of his career. Freed of his usual writing duties, Cohn sounds exuberant jamming through seven songs with pianist Barry Harris, bassist Sam Jones and drummer Leroy Williams. In addition to some superior standards (including “My Shining Hour,“ “Night Aand Day“ and “Skylark“), Cohn performs a memorable bossa-nova version of “America the Beautiful.“ This LP is recommended although, as is true with most of Xanadu releases, this music has not yet reappeared on CD...(AllMusic) _______________________________________________________________________________________________ Tracklist: The Beautiful ( Bates/)...(00:00) And Day (Cole Porter)...(05:04) Shining Hour ()...(13:42) (Al Cohn)...(22:18)
