First World War Artillery (1910-1919)

World War One - collection of footage of army artillery in action. M/S of soldiers in great coats riding towards the camera. M/S of soldiers on horseback - soldiers load special packs on the side of the saddles with large shells. Horses move off. Intertitle reads: “Knee deep in mud.“ Horses are led across very muddy ground. Seems to be some sort of camp where ammunition is being collected. L/S of horses passing by piles of boxes. M/S of large number of horses being ridden towards camera. Each man has another horse beside him which carries the packs. The horses have to walk though a deep puddle. M/S of soldiers operating a large gun. Good shot as the gun is loaded and fired after the men stand aside. Shot from behind the gun as it is fired again. “6-Inch Howitzers in action shelling the German First Line Trenches of Mametz.“ Panning L/S of countryside. Men stand around, horses at rest.
