WGBH Music: Xiang Yu plays Jules Massenet’s “Meditation“ from Thaïs
Live in the Fraser Performance Studio at WGBH, violinist Xiang Yu performs Jules Massenet’s “Meditation“ from the opera, Thaïs. A native of Shanghai, China, Yu studied at the Shanghai Conservatory before coming to Boston to study with Donald Weilerstein, who occupies the Dorothy Richard Starling Chair in Violin Studies at New England Conservatory. Yu has won First Prize at the Bode Cup Chamber Music Competition in China and Second Prize at the International Henryk Wieniawski Violin Competition (2006). In 2010, Yu won the prestigious Menuhin Competition.
