Argentina: Patagonia skies covered in thick haze amid raging wildfires

The wildfires could be seen burning in several areas of the National Park creating obstacles for volunteer and state fire brigades. “We had to move to this side because a secondary focus changed and became the head of the fire, it is pulling with south winds towards the north,” said Volunteer Fire Chief Alejandro Namor. “We had the fire already crowned up on the mountain, so we went out because it was not a safe place,“ he added. More than 200 fire brigades with a dozen aircraft were deployed to battle the blazes in the area of the Nahuel Huapi National Park and other parts of Patagonia.
