Oil Painting: Simplifying a complicated subject

This short video shows how I go about simplifying a very complicated subject into the main general areas of light and shadow, getting the colours as right as I can, before moving on to the smaler forms and details. The more I paint, the more I find that approaching paintings slowly and carefully at the start makes them much more likely to succeed.
