TEDxBerkeley - Lindsey Stirling

Lindsey Stirling has been playing the violin for 19 years with a range that extends from classical and to rock and roll. When she was 16, she joined the rock band Stomp on Melvin and began touring. She was recently a contestant on America’s Got Talent where she became known as the Hip Hop violinist and since then, she has become an international performer, bringing her musical talent around the world. With a degree from BYU in recreational therapy, she plans to work with troubled teenage girls in residential treatment centers and act as a positive role model for teenagers. Through her electrifying playing, she stands for the fact that you don’t have to conform to be accepted; the greatest value comes from loving and accepting yourself for who you are. In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection
