Manufacture Of Electric Power Cables Henley’s Ltd - Reel 2 (1930-1939)

Reel 2. Title for this section reads: “Construction of High Voltage Transmission Line by Messrs. W.T. Henley’s Telegraph Works Co. Ltd.“ The Pile Driver arrives. M/S of the Pile Driver being moved into place. A caterpillar with pile and monkey passes the camera. Various shots of men at work preparing the make a trench. Foundations for another tower are under preparation - material for making concrete is unloaded. L/S of men on top of a wooden platform winding up a winch. A crane swings around and stones are deposited into a barrow. The barrow is pushed along then rolls down a wooden slope with the men standing on the back. Various shots of the excavation of foundations. Reinforcement rods are placed in position. Men stand in a hole in the ground and the rods are passed down to them. Templates for the foundation bolts of the tower are adjusted. Twin transmission line towers are erected. Panels are prepared before being ready for lifting into position. L/S of several men at work on the towers.
