Blinken says Hamas leader is the person who can decide ceasefire

The US secretary of state said that Hamas’s new leader, Yahya Sinwar, “remains the primary decider when it comes to concluding a ceasefire“. Antony Blinken, speaking after a meeting with the US defence secretary, Lloyd Austin, and their Australian counterparts, also said talks to achieve a ceasefire and hostage deal on the war in Gaza had reached their final stage.
